About Essential Gardeners
Seattle's Organic Garden Care Team

Essential Gardeners is a small, family-owned organic gardening company founded in Seattle in January 2000. For over two decades, our tight-knit team of passionate horticulturalists has provided personalized garden care to homeowners across Seattle and the surrounding neighborhoods.

We are not a large landscaping corporation. We are hands-on gardeners who genuinely love plants, care about soil health, and take the time to get to know each client and their garden we work in. Many of our clients have been with us for 10, 15, even 25 years — and we think that says everything about how we work.

Organic Care. Real Expertise. Personal Attention.

Everything we do is guided by three principles: organic practice, horticultural knowledge, and genuine care for your garden as a living ecosystem. We believe healthy soil grows healthy plants — and healthy plants need far less intervention than plants grown with chemicals.

Our pruning follows ISA guidelines and Plant Amnesty techniques. Our soil improvement work follows organic composting best practice. Our plant selections are guided by what genuinely thrives in Pacific Northwest conditions — not just what looks good at the nursery in spring.

The People Behind Your Garden

The Team
Our Broader Team

Beyond Kim and Stefany, our crew includes trained gardeners who have studied at Plant Amnesty, local colleges, and attend ongoing seminars to stay current with horticulture knowledge and best practices. Our team includes a Master Gardener, and every crew member shares our commitment to organic, plant-healthy garden care.

Why Clients Stay With Us

26 Years. The Same Gardens. The Same Values.

We have worked in some of the same Seattle gardens since the very beginning. We have watched those gardens mature, respond to climate shifts, and evolve through different seasons of the homeowners' lives. That kind of long-term relationship — built on trust, consistency, and genuine horticultural care — is what we are most proud of.
